Coral Vertical Stripe (Supima Cotton)
Our Vertical Stripe design has 13 separate colored stripes. The conventional wisdom for most sock designers is that the numbers of colors in each row of stitches in a sock is limited to only a few, maybe six at most. That's why there are so many horizontal stripes in designs; they're easy. When we asked the manufacturer of our knitting machines, Busi Giovanni, if we could use more colors, they said theoretically yes, but the programming wasn't something for the faint of heart. We created our Vertical Stripe design as an experiment, to see if our pattern software was up to the task. The result exceeded our expectations.
